& Me.

Melissa, Donna & Me
A McDonalds commercial song from the 80's

Melissa, Donna & Me
(really havin' a ball)
On a Saturday Spree
(for the fun of it all)
Every shops full of fun
Trying everything under the sun.
There's one more stop to make today
Cause you deserve a break today...
at McDonalds.

_______________________________________

It occurred to me recently that this 80's McDonalds commercial, featuring 3 pre-teens gliding through the mall, is constantly (and forever) stuck in my head.

The picture above is of two girls named "Melissa and Donna" who I don't know and have never met. I pay homage to this insignificant commercial with their photo.

I only remember the one about the little girl playing Fur Elise at the piano recital, thinking about McDonald's. My mom would cry. Then, I learned how to play Fur Elise ont he piano and I never got McDonald's. I got a peice of fruit. Well, at least I learned how to play...darn it.
Sabbeth: will I ever get to see a picture of you? You are enshrouded in mystery...I can't picture your face...
These girls look fun. I think. Fun in the nice normal way. I don't have a lot of girlfriends.

Know this is old, but I always remembered it, and it was the start of Saturday taking on a special sense as the all around "fun day". The commercial captured the essence of 80's teenage life (suburban at least, though it was a bit out of reach for me).

I found this article in looking for the commercial to reference in my own tribute to the day: http://erictb.wordpress.com/2014/03/01/2055
Thought for sure there'd be a video on it on YouTube or Retrojunk, but it seems this is the only place. Thanks for remembering all the words!

I sang that jingle when I was a kid. I have an old audio recording somewhere, but I can't find the actual commercial online! I googled it and found your post. :)

My daughter was Donna in that commercial. It was filmed in Miami at a mall. I had the commercial on vhs tape and gave it to my daughter...she lost it...I have been trying to find the commercial on line but I guess it is lost forever...
